For all you computer game fans, Ubisoft, the company which produces the Petz and Imagine game titles is coming out this Fall 2008 with a game based on Cesar Millan’s, the Dog Whisperer.

In the game, you get to be Cesar and help rehabilitate dogs. You are confronted with 40 different common dog issues and, using Cesar Millan’s guidance, learn how to deal with each of them as a dog behavior expert.

“Ubisoft’s team has done an amazing job turning the ‘Power of the Pack’ methodology into an interactive experience,” said Cesar Millan. “The game is easy to play and offers many fun ways to learn rehabilitation techniques that can be applied to dogs in the real world.”

Sounds like great fun and an education. I’ll put out another post when the title has actually launched - I may even purchase a Nintendo DS just to try it out….

Get excited all you Cesar fans - and if you have a Nintendo DS and would like to try it out and provide feedback for Henry’s Backyard, go to the contact us page and shoot me a note and I’ll try to get you a copy.

Please note: the photo is not the actual game cover, just a representation.

So, there we were at Pet Smart - not quite sure what we were doing there. We got to have some fun in the beginning of class, getting to know our new friends. After we were there for a little while, we got brave and checked out the rest of the class. Most of the other dogs were playful and had interesting tales to tell, but some of those small, yippy dogs were angry and spiteful. Didn’t want to leave their master’s lap - bit silly, really.

Now I don’t like to brag, but we were clearly the smartest in our class, it must be told. We even received certificates when it was over. It was kind of fun and the treats were especially yummy but I much prefer it home in my backyard.

So I brought my new puppies home one day. I couldn’t believe my husband let me choose two dogs instead of one. See, a friend of a friend had adopted a female lab mix from the dog pound and when she went to get her dog fixed, it turned out she was pregnant. They ended up with seven puppies - not exactly what they had in mind. They were so incredibly cute - all fluffy and all black except for Henry. I chose my Henry and Jess puppies and brought them home and then I realized I had absolutely no idea how to train them or what to do with them. So I pieced together what I could from puppy training and feeding info on the internet. We struggled for a while but one of the best things I did was to get them training from Pet Smart.

Yes, Pet Smart had fantastic training - they told me my puppies at 4 1/2 months old were very old to be learning to train (?) but they did fantastic - first in their class! Shortly thereafter, no more newspapers and lots of good-for-you yummy dog treats. I never did teach them about ringing the bell when they wanted to go out…one of those things I think would have saved some of my carpeting…live and learn.
